The terms

L-08.1
  • DWG: AutoCAD's drawing file format, in which consultants send drawings. Example: a consultant sends a DWG, and you link it into Revit. Reversed Hebrew in a DWG link.
  • XREF: a reference from a DWG file to another external file. Example: a main DWG that refers to a furniture file, which holds the broken text. Hebrew inside a nested XREF.
  • SHX: AutoCAD's drawing fonts. Revit does not display them. Example: a label that looks like Hebrew in AutoCAD and that Revit shows as Latin letters such as c,herv. Why Hebrew breaks.
  • CTB: an AutoCAD plot-style file that sets line weight and colour for printing. Example: the consultant sends a CTB next to the DWG. The page on the consultant's CTB in Revit is in Hebrew only.
  • DWF: a file format exported by AutoCAD and Revit, in which drawings and examiner comments are received. Example: a DWF that came back from the examiner with markings. The DWF file tool, VIT DWF To, is coming soon.
  • markups: the comments, clouds and notes an examiner marks on a DWF file. Example: a cloud around a room with a note to correct. Summarising markups is coming soon in VIT DWF To.
